Microcontroller Application Engineer - Powertrain SAE Opening

Description:

The primary responsibility of this role is Microcontroller support for the Automotive Powertrain segment. Responsibilities will include second level customer support and training regarding microcontroller products and their application within Powertrain. Additional responsibilities will include applications engineering, customer interface, and communication with Headquarters on topics such as future product roadmap development.

What you will be doing.

  • Provide technical support for the promotion of our microcontrollers
  • Create solutions for customer specific problems with our products
  • Conduct in-depth training courses on our automotive microcontrollers for various automotive Tier1 and OEM companies.
  • Develop reference software which would include low level drivers, basic application level software and demonstration kit software.
  • Understand and communicate North American regional requirements for Powertrain applications and influence the feature sets provided in Infineon's future microcontroller families
  • Provide on-site support for developers who are using our microcontrollers
  • Customer design-in support including schematic and layout reviews

What you need to work here.

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 5+ years’ experience in automotive electronics development
  • Proficient in embedded C programming, schematic review, and problem solving
  • Strong customer interface and project/program management skills
  • Strong leadership qualities and an ability to work effectively with customers
  • Understanding of Software Development tools
  • Working level knowledge of the ISO26262 standard as it relates to microcontrollers and software is a plus
  • Application level understanding of powertrain control electronics
  • Experience in the lab environment: tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment
  • Understanding of OEM/Tier1 product development and qualification process is preferred
  • Knowledge of Infineon’s Tricore family, and Tier1 software development processes
  • Ability to adapt to various customer applications and support needs
  • 10 to 20% travel may be required (mostly local & regional travel)
